Tetsuomi Sogawa

Director

Tetsuomi Sogawa is the Director of the PHI Lab at NTT Research. His work spans quantum computing, optical information processing, quantum sensing, photonic–electronic convergence, and all-photonic network technologies. Across these areas, he focuses on advancing new approaches to information processing and communications that move beyond the limitations of conventional electronic systems.

 

Dr. Sogawa received his B.S., M.S., and Ph.D. degrees in electrical engineering from the University of Tokyo and joined NTT Basic Research Laboratories in 1991. Prior to his current role, he served as director of NTT Basic Research Laboratories and was a guest scientist at the Paul Drude Institute for Solid State Electronics in Berlin. He has also served as a visiting professor at the University of Tokyo and currently leads Japan’s SIP3 program focused on applying advanced quantum technologies to societal challenges.
